On a Roll

First of all, I have to thank my friend, Laura Vegas for her generous gift to me. This was waiting on my doorstep in a delivery box when I got home today. She also included a beautiful card but I forgot to include it in the picture! Thanks so much Laura!! I love all of it! You are so sweet!

This weekend I had a list of pages that I wanted to do so I placed an online order for some photos and picked them up down the street...printer isn't getting my colors right. I have a dozen pages that I want to do so I think it get the work done quickly by getting the pictures printed first. Before I placed my order, I went through some sketches that i wanted to do. I jotted down the resource for the sketch and the colors and/or embellishments that I wanted to use.

This one I did last night...used photoshop and printed the pics on one 8x10, so much easier to scrap that way. Kinda nice to put the pics in one spot, that way you don't have to worry about the pages getting too busy.

Used some leftover Bazzill scalloped CS, stars are from gin-x, journaling stickers are American Crafts...they are actually a slick surface, so I'm glad I have a slick writer for this! The corners are punched with a cornerpunch and some PP was placed underneath. The chipboard title is from KI Memories...these are actually a winter theme but the colors go well PLUS i had all the letters for the title. The picture of this page isn't too nice, I can't take any pics outside cause its been really windy lately and my pages are blowing across the lawn.

This card is a complete lift from Making Memories new baby idea book. I don't know the artist who did it because I can't find the credit in the book. If anyone knows, let me know.

My friend, Rose, had a baby girl on Friday( 9lbs, 4 oz!) and I'm going to send this to her. I made two of them and will keep one for future use...I gotta keep more baby cards on hand! I love this card and fell in love with it when I saw it on the cover of the book. The papers and tag are from Making Memories and the baby stickers are from Pebbles...perfect to fit in the tagged shapes. There are smaller ones that fit in the circle size and this sticker is actually rectangular shaped and was perfect for the medium tag..

This is my first scrap page that I ever made; circa 2003...this was a lift from Shannon Taylor. I purchased my first magazine and wanted to lift everything. My previous hobby was cross-stitching and I had plenty of floss! Love Kendall's giant eyes!!

and another early page. These pics are of Kendall sitting in my old rocking chair that I had when i was a little girl. The pics are taken with b/w film...

Kendall's First Christmas..oh, and there's my poor Chloe...

and my baby shower...love these pics cause the one on the left is of my sister, my neighbor, and myself all pregnant...all with a plate of food on our laps. All of our babies were born within 8 weeks of each other. I used Chatterbox paper on here and back then you could only find it online and it was always sold out. I was so in love with that paper...still have some.

Kendall's first b-day party. We had a bash with 50 guests and rented a room at our park district for it! The center of the LO is her actual invitation that I made. Ozan helped me make them...actually have a picture of him using my MM eyelet setter. i should post that!

a page I did of ozan and Kendall for our 5th wedding anniversary.
Paint chips used here...a really popular technique back then. The white portions are embossed to look like grout...and I used a lot of transperancy back then.
a page of Kendall's firsts...I'm pretty sure this was a lift. A good piece of advise my neighbor gave me was to always mark down dates when the babies have a mile stone. Sometimes things don't happen all of the sudden on a certain date, but just pick one close to it.

That was fun. Thanks for looking!

Ballet is finally over...

for now. We've been going to classes every Saturday morning since January...think we both need a break. Today was her concert...OMG, all those little girls in ballet outfits are just too cute. I really enjoyed the show and it only lasted an hour and 15 minutes total, so it was nice and short.
Got some pics after in the auditorium real quick. it was held at our local HS's auditorium. And that stamp on my hand was not an accident from making a card or something (and its SO not my style), it was our proof that we paid admission to the show. LOL!

Did this LO last night and finished up this morning. This was a lift from another SBer from Two Peas and I just loved the graphic look of it. Changed some things around and used a lot of stamping here. The numbers stamp is a rolling one from Stampin Up. The letters "Bliss" is also Stampin Up; a new letter set that I recently got. I tried to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig, but I still messed it up. The leaf branches are from a new Sizzix die cut I recently got. Too cute. Have a great week everyone!

We go from ballet to t-ball

back to ballet...
Sunday is Kendall's ballet show. Tonight she had her t-ball game and this crazy mom took 102 pictures! yes, I'm crazy for taking that many and even crazier for counting them!

There has been a threat of rain or storms almost every Friday for the past 4 weeks during Kendall's t-ball sessions. Today some scary clouds passed through and we had a beautiful, sunny day. I also was missing my telescopic lens for a month or so, now I have found it-yes! Here are some of them from tonight. Its so cute when the ball is hit about 2-3 feet
and the whole team comes rushing to get the ball...those little kiddies look like they are playing human bowling or something!
And just some pics from the other day...kiddies just hanging out. Literally.
This girlie looks adorable here. Funny cause I was trying to get her to turn around because the sun was behind her...I think it was around 6PM...she didn't want to turn, so I was pleasantly surprised how this came out!
...and who can resist a little guy in low pocket classic Levis?

Ballet Layout

I took these pics on Saturday after my Kendall's professional pictures for her ballet class. Her concert is next weekend. It was such a beautiful day out with lots of sun and flowered trees, so I took advantage. She was actually standing on a bench so I could get her face in front of the trees.

This is a monthly kit (April) from Scrapbook Bakery. I wanted to use this kit right away but was unsure how the bright colors of the pics would work out with the shabby chic colors here. Did a two page LO so I could include all the pics without looking too crowded.

I'm pretty happy with this...added rub ons to the white brads to tone them down and to coordinate with the rest of the theme. I used the Stampin Up spritzer on the flowers as well with chocolate chip ink.
I had these pics printed at Target through Sutterfly, which I've been doing lately cause my printer doesn't seem to coordinate with my photoshop program. I'm pretty happy with the quality, though.
Supplies Used
Additional Supplies Used
Rub Ons: Basic Grey
Photo Corners: Heidi Swapp
Paper Piercing Guide (for holes around pics): Stampin Up Matte Pack
Spritzer and Marker: Stampin Up
Index Letter Sticker: Autumn Leaves (they had these in the 1.99 spot last week)
Doiley Border Punch: Martha Stewart
Scalloped Border Punch: Fiskar's
Mini Alpha Stickers: Making Memories

great week of gifts for me!

Yep...I don't get gifts that much, nor do I win much of anything but this week I feel like I've won the lottery. So it started on Wednesday, I was at Cosco getting new tires for my car and I decided to look around in the electronics department (cause I didn't need anything to buy, believe it or not) and I finally decided to get myself one of these...they have great prices on them. And they only have this color for this style but its the color I wanted...

Then I came home to find these in the mailbox from Nichol...won a RAK off her blog. Thanks Nichol!

And then this lovely April monthly kit from Scrapbook Bakery was sitting at my doorstep...on the same day...

Went to Archiver's today and got the long awaited Recipe Box from Elsie Flannigan. Well, for those of you who don't scrapbook, they are scrapping recipes. You open it up and they are vertical index cards. The recipe is on the back and the pic is on the front. You can see more pics on her blog.

And that's not all, I went back to Scrapbook Barkery's Blog and found out I won a RAK last weekend. Yeah!! Lucky week, maybe I should play the lottery... oops too late. Its worth 150 million!
Have a great weekend...

card inspiration 8

Did a card for Kristina's challenge here:

The inspiration is from Pier One and the colors are brilliant blue, pumpkin pie, whisper white, and bashful blue.
I don't have all these colors, so I used similar colors...got the chance to use my new cut and emboss butterfly from Cuttlebug. The small butterfly is Martha Stewart. Define Your Life Stamp from Stampin Up with their white craft ink.
thanks for looking.

Fastest card ever!!!

cool trick/another card

see the cool catalogue card at the right below the banner? you can make yours here.

And can you handle another card? This was the third design I did for Teacher's Appreciation Week. Once again, used my tree stamps from Hero Arts, my new Martha Stewart doily border punch, Making Memory buttons...these are OLD school, Staz On timber brown...perfect for this stamp. Everything else is Stampin Up: Soft Sky, Choc Chip, and Very Vanilla CS (into vanilla instead of white these days); chocolate chip ink pad and marker; Craft White ink pad; ticket corner and horizontal slot punches; Polka Dot background and Wonderful Words stamps; used the SU spritzer with the choc chip marker to make the spritzed look on the blue paper.
I don't want to stop using this tree stamp, this would work perfect for men's cards as well...TFL.

Teacher's Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher's Appreciation Week. Between both of my kids and all their teachers, etc. I have about 10 cards to pass out. I made a few of these last night. I'm doing about 3 designs...
The cardstock, punches (ticket corner and word window), thank you, and shapes stamps (except the turquiose blue one) are Stampin Up; tree and square stamp are Hero Arts. The ink is Tsukineko Versa Magic Chalk Ink. Bakers twine is Martha Stewart (blue) and red cord is SEI. These inks are beautiful and went on so nice. I love these tree stamps and I feel stumped(oh, a nice pun here...lol!) when I use them. I split the colors just to add something extra to them.
And today Kendall and I made this...

I saw an ad in Michaels today for this Wilton cake pan. Makes a cake that is shaped like a cupcake, but its like 10" tall. Its two molds that you bake seperately and then you paste them together with frosting (top and bottom). I'm not a good froster, but it was fun anyway!

We went to Aydan's preschool today for a scheduled conference...they gave me a CD of some cute pics of him taken at school. I had to share my favs...
Cute pic in the snow...think this hat is WAY to small.

they have these great tricyles and a paved walkway to go around in their fenced in area...I love this look on his face, totally Aydan. Always smiling! Gosh he is really getting tall.

omg, how cute is he in this hat??? I see a scrap page in my future...

Mother's Day LO

So Mother's Day is here in almost 2 weeks...are you all ready? It made me remember that I have never made a LO of my first Mother's Day. I worked on this page on and off for the past week. I look kinda funny here but I think it was because I was a new mother with a 3 month old and I was back at work full-time and this little chickie was up every 2 hours to eat!

Anyway, I had fun with this one and did some techniques here. The green Bazzill CS has embossing on it that I made with my Scor-it. I made some harlequin lines (which i love) and then I also used some MM aluminum sheets, punched them out with my Stampin Up slit punch and then ran it thru my cuttlebug. I just got this new dotted folder and I love it.
The PP is Scenic Route and MM...Garden Party and Flower Ledger-limited edition from Archiver's. Used Making Memory tags, aluminum sheets, felt heart button, chipboard square letters (don't remember what these are called), new teal mini alphas (how cute are these?), noteworthy alphas, staples, and crystal brads. American crafts clear journaling sticker (date) and ribbon...Fancy Pants felt. Sky Blue textured CS from Stampin Up and Define Your Life Stamp Set (which I'm totally in love with). Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch and CI transperancy. Thanks for looking.

b-day pics. flowers, and cards

Lots of pics here, with minimal journaling!
Kendall had her first t-ball game Friday...lasted 45 minutes until the terrible t-storm hit us!

Tulips from my sister-in-law and brother-in-law...

Cute flowers delivered by my father-in-law to my door step at 8:00 this morning
Our tree in our yard...bloomed this week. These flowers only last a week or so!
Card inspired by laura vegas! Lots of new Stampin Up stuff here...love my new outlined jumbo alphabet, but I'm terrible with the craft knife! Large star is embossed cuttlebug and chipboard AC star.
Card inspired by Jennifer McGuire...love these tree stamps. Used Hero Art tree stamp, some pearls, AC ribbon, and prismacolor pencils...everything else here is Stampin Up. Love the new Soft Sky CS I got...these pics are not too good. Sorry.
attempted self portrait of ozan, aydan, and myself at dinner last night. Went to Maggianos with both families for a b-day celebration. i had shrimp, garlic, butter linguine, a mojito, and tiramisu. Yum!!! Lots of leftovers too!
My sister Chrissy and her boys: Tyler and Nathan.
ozan's sister Gulcin and Kendall (sorry for the blurry pic, it was dark in the restaurant)
My sister and I...
Ozan and Gulcin's husband, Claude...
My step-father Don and my mom...
We had a great dinner and a great celebration!

interesting week

So on Tuesday around 10:00, I'm at work and one of my co-workers tells me she needs me in the back. I walk in the lounge and my co-workers shout "surprise"...they threw me a surprise b-day party. I was so touched! Its not until Saturday, but my co-workers have been causally checking out my schedule for this week and I was really busy the rest of the week so they decided to do it early. I told them that they almost gave me a heart attack! Good thing the crash cart is nearby cause I almost needed it! They bought lunch and cake and our whole lounge was decorated with all those over the hill signs. Didn't bother me cause i don't feel over the hill. These days, I really don't care much about my b-day but since this one is a big one, I've decided to embrace it and have fun!

Today was bring your child to work day. Our HR department schedules chaperoned tours to certain departments and since I teach the xray students, I get to take on this task every year. I had my manager take some pics (not too good since the lights were dimmed and I don't care for this pic but it'll do) cause I don't have many pics of me at work, especially teaching. I did the same lecture to different groups of children 8 times today...yes 8 times. There were 99 children that came through. Yes, I said 99. I also have some really cool xrays of animals from our local zoo...lions, dolphins, turtles, etc. cause they bring the animals to us for CTs and MRIs. The kids really liked seeing all those animals and some of the kids even asked me if I could xray them. When I said no, they couldn't understand why. Kids are interesting little buggers...aren't they? Oh, and that's Jennifer, one of my students, helping me out. Nice to have a hand with all those kids.

and I took a photo shoot this morning of my first year students. I run a web newsletter for our department as well, so I like to put their pics up.
Right now is the perfect time to take some group shots outside! This was taken at 7:45 AM, perfect sun at that time and now that its spring, I can take some pics of them in front of all the flowered trees. So glad spring is really here!

Congrats Ewa

My friend, co-worker, and former student, Ewa, just had her second child...a baby boy named Jacob. He has long and stretchy toes. I went to see her in the hospital (where we both work) after she had him and I just grabbed her camera and started taking bunches of pics, especially those toes. I don't have a picture for you, but here is the card I made.
This is a lift from the recent issue of Cards Magazine. I really love this card for a baby. Supplies here: Stampin Up CS, Kraft and Choc Chip; My Minds Eye PP, Fiskars Scissors, Ranger Old Paper Ink, 7 Gypsies tag, Marcella K rub-ons, Heidi Grace hat pins, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, Paper Studio Stamps, Hero Arts Pearl, and Making Memories Ribbon (love this ribbon...I wouldn't use this on a card for just anyone). I think the ribbon really adds to the card. I think I need to pick up some more! And I know the rub-ons are messed up, I used green 3 letters in a row. I cut them out correctly and when i was putting the card together, I was really tired and messed up.

We had a nice, 75 degree sunny day today...I felt a little overheated...go figure... so we made a last minute decision to go to the zoo. So we're there and a polar bear is doing something really cute. I got my camera out, shoot...nothing happens. Forgot my photo card. Darn. And then the male lion was out and awake, which rarely happens and I missed my photo opportunity!

new stamp storage

I'm sick and tired of my CD jewel cases to store my stamps so I wanted to put them in a binder. I had this old Crop and Style embellishment/sticker case that wasn't being used, so I was thinking that it would be perfect. So far I have 11, 12x12 sheets in there and there is room for more. I used the small square ones for the M's dollar stamps and the individual AL, etc. For the 5 long pockets, I put HS and long stamps. On those I used some white cs for some backing and strength to pull them out and topped it with some transperancy to store the stamps on.For the 12x12 sheets, I used Cropper Hopper pager index dividers and mounted multiple sets on each one. You can fit another set of stamps on the other side of the same "jacket" or mount more on the back. I taped the original transperancy package if I had it so I could see them easier. This took me 4 hours so if you wanna go for this system its a lot of work. But I'm happy that I can now flip through the book and look for what I want.
Michaels $ stamps tucked in pockets. You need to trim the sides.

Long pockets: held extra M's stamps, HS word stamps, and small fontwerks unmounted letter stamps.

12x12 pockets with cropper hopper page divider used as the base to hold the acrylic stamps.

Unmounted rubber fontwerks stamps.

The binder itself.

This may sound confusing, so if you have questions, please feel free to ask me! Pardon the quality of the pictures...they are taken in my scraproom, which is in the dark basement. Have a good weekend.
