My poor dog, Chloe, sadly passed away today. I am beyond grieve strickened...and I don't know how I'm going to get through this. She was 10 years old. She was our family member and it is hard to image life without her.
We found her Thursday evening lying on the floor, not moving. She was breathing and we lifted her outside to go to the bathroom. The next morning Ozan took her to our vet and later after she was stabilized, we transferred to a vet hospital. They determined that she probably had metastatic cancer in her belly. We had no idea. She never acted sick. She was actually doing better last night around 10. Then we got the middle of the night phone call at 2:30 AM that she was declining. Ozan went to go see her for a while. She was sleeping well and steady. We called again at 8:30 and they said that she wasn't doing well and we need to make a decision. So we did. We took the family there and they brought Chloe down to us in a room. She came down sitting up and she seemed OK. The vet told us that labs do that for their families that she was being strong for us. Soon she put her head down. She even gave Ozan a kiss but she was too weak to even put her tongue back in her mouth. We brought her bed from home so she would be comfortable. The staff helped us watch our energetic children. We sat with her for 40 minutes. The vet was so patient and sympathetic with us. I held her in her arms as she took her last breath. I will never forget that moment...ever. The feeling of loosing her is unbearable and I'm hardly cooping right now. I want this pain to end. She deserved to live longer then this...we love you Chloe!
