A card and a quickie LO

So I made this card a few days ago...had everything on except the flower and sentiment...for the life of me could not figure out what I wanted on the front. Today it dawned on me to use a stamped, cut-out flower, so I pulled out the first stamp set I ever purchased from Stampin Up. I stamped it on Basic Grey paper with versamark and used vanilla embossing powder. Did you know that American Crafts makes that now? I loved how it turned out. This is for my mother-in-laws b-day this month. The leaves were also made withe the same stamping set. Funny because I meant to use clear embossing powder and accidentally poured on some halographic powder...sometimes the best things are done accidentally. Right?

The base of the card was made with 2 Big Notz Stampin Up Die cuts...they were stapled together at one end and then folded over.

Then I had some extra time to do some more work so I went through my to-do folders of layouts that have been started but not finished. I came up with these pics I printed from Aydan's first Christmas (2005)...he was only 4 months old here! I decided that in order to get caught up with old projects, I must do something simple and maybe a lift it as well. I lifted this "sketch" from Elizabeth Kirchtener in the March issue of CK. And you can laugh at this, its me making fun of our terrible pics and the lessons I learned from it. I started with the "Christmas Picture" title in AC vinyl letters and then added some MM chipboard for the rest...didn't mean for this LO to have such a large title. It looks like a Dr Suess book! LOL!

And this scan isn't too bad. I have been so frustrated with my scanner cutting off the borders of my pages lately. This time I decided to scan it in quadrants instead of halves and it worked. I used PS 6.0 for this and did a photo merge. I'd rather take a pics of my LOs but it poured all weekend!

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Week 10: Project 365

We had a few eventful things going on this week...not a whole lot but enough to get some pics. I don't have all my pics for this week...missing Sunday and today. Will have to add them later.
Sun, March 1: (to be added later)
Mon, March 2: Got my gift from Northridge Media for my card publication. Got some scenic route goodies, a package of SEI paper, some SEI ribbon and chipboard, Creative Imaginations epoxy letters, etc. And they send you a copy of the Simply Handmade magazine and your card back.

Tues, March 3: Our neighbor Abby came over to play after work and the kids were hanging upstairs in our loft-which is basically a play area. They got out Kendall's jewelry box, dressed up like "ballerinas", and danced around to the music. Yes, that's my boy in a tutu!
Wed, March 4: Happy 60th b-day to my mom!! Aydan was home sick for a few days. He's here on the couch resting.
Thurs, March 5: Aydan was home sick again. I heard him get up from his bed but never saw him come downstairs so I went to go check on him and I found him like this...fell asleep in the doorway. Unfortunately when I took the second picture it woke him up and I ruined his nap!
Friday, March 6: We've had some nice weather so the kids had some time on the swings. All my pics came out blurry but this was the best one.
Sat, March 7: Should have taken a picture of our new haircuts but we had kind of had a stay-in-our-PJs kinda day.
And a couple of cards I made last weekend for a cover contest for Cards magazine. Didn't make the cut, but I'm happy with how they came out. The large black scalloped circle was made using the Slice. Who doesn't love scalloped circles?

Week 9: Project 365

Week 9 already? I can't believe its March already and I'm so glad because winter is nearly 6 months long around here and I'm getting cabin fever...well kind of, love being home. But spring is around the corner...finally. Ready to see leaves and flowers again...even my grass. Even though we had a very harsh winter with single digit temps and a ton of snow, February was very mild and usually that can be the worst month. We even had a ton of rain and a pretty bad thunderstorm that scared us a bit. Anyway we had a few things going on this past week, which makes the 365 a little bit more fun. And seriously, I need to include the hubby in these pics more! Bad me!
On with the 365...
Sun, Feb 22: We went to a party Sunday at one of Ozan's co-workers place for an afternoon of good food and conversation. His wife waits on us hand and foot and his teenager daughter plays with our kiddies. What more could I ask for? This is my friend Wendy...we became friends a few years back. Her husband works at the same college my husband does...then come to find out that she works at the same hospital that I do. But we never run into each other at work...just meet for lunch here and there. There are 5,000 employees at our hospital and she works in a different building. She's so super sweet and funny! I almost didn't post this pic because I look terrible! Oh well.
Mon, Feb 23: OK, I lied really taken Sunday on the way to the party but who cares, right? Anyway Ozan thinks it funny and strange that I can read magazines, newspapers, and play games on my i-pod while riding in a car. He doesn't understand how I don't get sick. Last summer I made cards all the way up to Wisconsin...and I like driving but if I'm a passenger I can do some fun stuff! Gotta take advantage of free time! Oh, and I'm totally addicted to my Klondike game, which is solitare.
Tues, Feb 24: OK, lied again...the next three pics were taken Thursday. Kendall had a celebration at school and I wanted to include a few pics from that. These are her friends Morgan and June. Yes, Kendall is short but June is super tall. She looks like a 9 year old even though she just turned 6. Kendall has known them since pre-school.
Wed, Feb 25: My kiddies leaving school. Aren't they cute? We had a really bad thunderstorm and it POURED! I didn't have an umbrella so I made sure we ran out quickly when it stopped for a bit. And see how they're running out the door. I was yelling at them...we were heading out to the parking lot, they're ahead of me, and I'm trying to put my camera back in my bag so it wouldn't get wet!
Thurs, Feb 26: Kendall's kindergarten classroom. I love her room...looks like a typical old fashioned class...lots of wooden furniture, little chairs, every wall covered with something, tiny little bathrooms. Love it! Today was 100 day...the kids celebrate the 100th day of school and they have all kinds of activities to celebrate the number 100. She's sitting in the front with the pink and red dress on. And she has two teachers (the 2 ladies on the right) and the teacher on the left was her kindergarten teacher from the fall. They decided to switch teacher at the holiday break.
Fri, Feb 27: Aydan came home from school and was struggling to get this Rachael Ray cookbook down from my bookshelf. He likes this book because of the numbers...remember he's addicted to numbers. He cracks me up!

Journal Your Christmas

So I did this kit that my friend Laura offered for us just before the holidays. It was the longest project that I have ever done but all the paper was cut, photo album provided, journaling printed out, and there were some other goodies in there as well. I did finish in early january but I totally forgot about posting it. Good thing Sara reminded me. And I do have a few pages where I don't have pics yet...those will be added this Christmas season. But the stamping and paper assembly is all done. Didn't do too many edits on the photos...took these outside after work on my front porch. Funny because my neighbor was driving by and she rolled down the window and asked me what I was doing. LOL! She knows about my crazyness for scrapping! I also took some shots up close so you can see the embossing and some of the digital photo frames i put on the pics. Most of the stamps are Stampin Up and Making Memories; patterned paper is Scenic Route and Making Memories;ribbon is AC...which I have a TON of...that was perfect so I could kinda use some of it up;border Punch is also Stampin Up;Rhonna Ferrer digital frames. Also added a Cuttlebug embossing folder to part of the tag for a different touch. The embossing...both wet and dry were my favorite parts about this journal.

Week 8: Project 365/

OK, boring week...kinda hard when its almost dark after you and the kids get home from work. I love this project but I'm getting a bit bored with it. I think when I get them all in an album, it'll give me more drive. When the warm weather hits us...someday...it will be a bit more fun too! I even took extra pics around the house today because I didn't think I had enough, but I actually did!
Sun, Feb 15: Omitted. Took an adorable pics of my kids' tooshies waiting for their bath to fill. Sorry, but I won't post pics like that on the internet...but it IS an adorable pic!

Mon, Feb 16: I took the day off of work since my kids didn't have school. I had to take Aydan to an appointment, which was so conveniently next door to my favorite store, Archivers.

Tues, Feb 17: Had to stop at the store after work and staring right at me when I walked in was a half dozen box of Paczkies! Yum! They are polish donuts that are around just before lent. Pronounced "Punch-keys".

Wed, Feb 19: Kendall had this balloon arrangement for her birthday party. Well Aydan somehow took the weight off of it and they got to our ceiling...the problem, our ceiling is 20 feet in the family room and we were afraid of it getting tangled around the fan. Ozan had to reach over the loft railing to get her down. And he's like why are you taking pics of me doing this? I think its funny because Tinkerbell is really flying now.
Thurs, Feb 19: This is typical Aydan after school...running right for the pantry or fridge for a snack. I swear if it was up to my kids, they would just have snacks all day without meals! And when he's hungry, he's fussy. And he only wants junk stuff...which I have to hide sometimes!
Fri, Feb 20: This is also typical Kendall stuff...hanging her art stuff from school on her walls. She helps herself to tape and hangs them up. I really want to get her a big corkboard for her room...just haven't found one yet. That butterfly has googly eyes with eyelashes on them. I love her art!
Sat, Feb 21: I just bought the kids new sneakers this fall and they are already worn out! So Ozan wanted to order some new ones from Zappos. We printed out a measuring chart, measured their feet and realized that they wear the same size! Both wear 10.5 in toddler. Mind you, Kendall is 6 and Aydan is 3. She (on the left) has tiny, tiny little feet. And his (on the right) are huge! LOL! Notice the black and white pic? I'm going to make one pic a week black and white. Saw this idea on another blog and I loved it...adds a bit of change to it.

Oh and I made a bunch of cards this week...this is a complete lift from Betsy Valdman. Her cards are so detailed, unique, and fun! I couldn't help but make a set of these cards. I made matching vellum envelopes as well. Took out my embossing gun...which is always fun...for the damask stamp and the sentiments as well. I used some white craft ink from Stampin Up to make the white embossing powder a bit stronger. These were fun...not even close to the standards of Betsy. And my damask stamp is smaller than hers but I didn't have one like that.

scrap-a-thon

Whew...been scrapping a whole lot this weekend. Just have a quick share. This is a lift from Robyn Werlich...you can see it here. Did a whole lotta die-cutting with my Slice, some stamping, and embossing. It was fun but very time consuming...like 4 hours. I love to scrap but now I think I need a break for a few days. LOL!!! Thanks for looking...and once again pardon the wonky scan.
Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper, Border Edges, Slice Die Cut Machine, Staples: Making Memories
Kraft Cardstock: Hobby Lobby
Stamps: Studio G, Stampin Up, and Heidi Grace
Butterfly Punch: Martha Stewart
Ink: Tsukineko and Stampin Up

And I thought I'd repost the picture of my card that is in Simply Handmade Magazine this month.

And I completely forget to share this one. I made this for my friend Laura...she is the one who suggested that I send in that card for publication. She has been so good to me. I gave her this card around Christmas...kind of a Christmas/friendship card.

Week 7: Project 365/ A Challenge

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Here are my pics for the week and a project to share.

Sun, Feb 8: My scraptable in the middle of a project. I am a messy, messy scrapper. When I get an idea, I seriously can't stop to clean or I'll loose my train of thought. I do throw out scraps or garbage every few minutes...but I do clean up after the project.
Mon, Feb 9: Kendall writing out her valentine cards. Her teacher gave them a list of the students. I showed her where to write her name and her friends name, then showed her how to check off the name when the card was done. She did the whole list without my help. I'm so proud!
Tues, Feb 10: We were playing a game this evening. Aydan is crazy, crazy about numbers. He would roll the die and get excited and scream about his number no matter what number he got. Amazingly, he even can identify the die number without counting the dots. He's my little genus! And pardon the messy house...we had toys out everywhere!
Wed, Feb 11: I love how Aydan eats certain foods. For pizza he holds the piece against his face like this and just bites off the top layer. Then when that's gone, he eats the crust. Its so cute!
Thurs, Feb 12: I found the kids sitting in my laundry baskets sharing a blanket watching some Noggin. Yes, he's wearing the same shirt. This pic was taken the same day as the pizza. Impossible to take a pic everyday.
Fri, Feb 13: I found this in my scraproom after work. Kendall make this shopping list and I think its the cutest thing ever! Isn't it? I scanned it and made a 4x6 photo in photoshop and added the title on the left side. This girl loves OJ and donuts are an occasional treat around here. She is getting really good at spelling for a Kindergartner. The teachers encourage them to spell by sounds, rather than the actual spelling.

Sat, Feb 14: Valentines Day. Daddy came home with 2 flower bouquets for his 2 girls. Kendall got the dozen roses and I got the wild flowers. I can't tell you how much I love it when he buys Kendall flowers.

And finally...I did a challenge created by Mary and my two friends Laura and Sasha. The challenge was to use bright papers, arrows, Kraft paper, and letter stickers. These photos have been on my scrapbook to do list for months now. With a challenge like this, it makes it easier and faster to get your projects done. The pic is terrible. I don't know what's wrong with my LO pics lately...they are terrible.
